Lisa Spector, Pianist

Exceptional interpretative powers and ability to relate to an audience has placed pianist and performer Lisa Spector in a class of her own. With undaunted enthusiasm, Lisa has swept the country from coast to coast winning prestigious national piano competitions. Dewar9s awarded Lisa "Outstanding Young Artist of the Year." She claimed 1st prize in the International Piano Recording Competition. National achievements include 1st prize in New York and Los Angeles Chopin Competitions, and 2nd prize in Florida9s First Coast National Piano Competition. In 1999, Lisa was awarded 1st prize in San Francisco Concerto Orchestra9s Recording Competition. Lisa was a national finalist in The Simone Belsky Music Award Competition in 2001. She captured the attention of international music aficionados when she was the only American to advance to the semi-finals in Spain9s International Chopin Competition. Her tours as a solo artist have included performances in China, Italy, and France. Lisa has recorded for SUGO Music.

Upon hearing and seeing Lisa Spector perform it is quite obvious that she has a genuine love for music and shines on stage. On a recent concert tour, one critic wrote: "The audience, seemingly unable to contain its delight and appreciation of the stellar performance by Spector, burst into applause and then gave her a standing ovation before the piece was finished. In theatrical language - she stopped the show."

Born in Syracuse, New York, Spector holds prestigious music degrees from Juilliard (B.M.) and the University of Southern California (M.M.). Prominent teachers who have taught and inspired Lisa to reach great heights include: John Perry, Lilian Kallir, and Earl Wild. Major American Symphonies who have featured Lisa include: The Aspen Symphony, Santa Barbara Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, and the Corpus Christi Symphony and The National Philharmonic of Romania in Europe.

In addition to her active performing career, Ms. Spector currently owns a music school in Half Moon Bay, California. Lisa teaches a variety of adult music appreciation classes as well as private instruction and group lessons for children. Spector was a member of the music faculty at Santa Clara University from 1987-1992.

Lisa has balanced her intense musical career by making a visible mark within the volunteer community. She regularly performs benefit recitals and has devoted time to Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Furry Friends Pet Assisted Therapy Services. Other interests include: acting, swimming, Jazzercise, vegetarian cooking, and taking her golden retriever for long walks on the beach.
